The Garden of Delight
NZAP’s landscaped gardens are a wonderland of light and movement that fuses projection mapping, AR, kinetic sculptures, interactive and light installations; all within pleasant walkways.
The energy to power the area would be from solar panels on the main buildings roof.
During the daytime the artwork is focused upon sound and kinetic play artwork.

NZAP + CoLAB Initiative
Existing in parallel with NZAP, and with the support of Government, Educational and Business Institutions within Aotearoa/New Zealand CoLAB will become a Global Centre of Excellence for bleeding edge Screen, RealTime and Immersive Production.
CoLAB will become the cornerstone of creating world-beating emerging forms of storytelling - with the facilities and support to cultivate NZ’s exciting Voices of Tomorrow. Important partnerships with the country’s leading educational institutions will explore new creative horizons and provide a vital proving ground for entirely unique approaches to narrative.
As the project matures, CoLAB aims to become Aotearoa / New Zealand’s national R&D and Innovation Hub - working in close collaboration with the NZ Government to help to grow the country’s digital economy, providing the infrastructure to further world class research and product development in screen, arts and performance sectors.

NZAP + CoLAB Initiative
CoLAB will supercharge leading Immersive Artists from small & medium creative businesses within NZ and the wider international community - offering unrivalled access to large scale screen & digital rehearsal and audience testing space. Removing the biggest barrier to early production, will allow CoLAB to become established as the birthplace of the future evolution of immersive experiences.
CoLAB will form a robust worldwide network - connecting NZ to the global stage at prestigious film and art festivals in Europe, Asia, Middle East and the Americas.
CoLAB will be recognised as the unquestionable destination for sharing digital concepts among like-minded peers - attracting the most renowned creative and technical practitioners from around the globe.
CoLAB aims to become a household name forever synonymous with producing the very latest and most groundbreaking large scale digital art.
It will become a vital part of NZAP’s future, and a significant revenue generating entity unto itself.
Corporate Events & Launches
NZAP is ideally situated as an exciting new venue for brand launches and corporate events. ART & PLAY’s larger immersive media spaces can be re-programmed, via the central media server system, to create bespoke experiences for special events.
The NZAP Ionic LED exterior screen can include the brand media for the event. Also the entrance doors screens and concourse 4k screens and projections are part of the visual story.
The Garden of Delight, outside, can be included into the itinerary, as too fun in the PLAY spaces.

Touring Shows
As more LBE venues come on stream, and art / museum galleries develop further, there are opportunities for NZAP’s own touring concepts to be monetised for overseas, installations, festivals and seasonal locations.
After the NZAP touring experience show has been perfected in-situ, through user testing by visitors, they can then be packaged and planned for in advance. Each show’s production would be optimised and tested for efficiently for the specific requirements for each overseas venues space.

NZAP Shop

There will be a reasonably large retail shop within the main concourse.
Here we will promote NZAP branded items as well as local and NZ wide artists physical, and digital, contemporary work.
There is also an online store, accessed through the NZAP app, and include virtual galleries for artists products and NFT work.
The shop has a glass entrance that is also a moving transparent video screen. Here moving artwork can be displayed and updated.
Delight Cafe & Bar

The Delight cafe caters for the whole facility and staff, and provides a wide selection of healthy, tasty, dishes delivered by a well managed speedy food service.
The tables utilise the latest in desktop interactive touchscreens. Here guests can order food, select their preferred toppings, play games, make drawings, view their photos and videos and share them, and make eftpos payments. Also the screens are multilingual.
The bar/cafe space is also a venue for ART screens and projection mapping. Creating a fun and creative space for visitors to relax.
Intelligent Building
NZAP would require an extensive, integrated, media delivery network and data farm. This provides the level of GPU processing power for a reactive, real time, no-lag performance, feedback environment.
This future proofed response environment, both across the NZAP site and in the cloud, requires a development path for upgrades, and initially is a key aspect of the building infrastructure.
NZAP IT and IOT systems also allow for better conservation of resources, waste and energy with real time monitoring, and improve the visitor experience as it can become personalised.

Visitor Orientation
International tourists, school groups, NZ visitors and local communities start their journey by registering online on WWW.NZARTPLAY.COM Here they can book tickets and make reservations for a wide selection of special events and activity pass packages.
To cater for different kinds of visitor movement and flow, and various types of group experiences, our guest support team staff will provide regular help and guidance as it’s needed.
Each environment within the facility, both inside and outside, may apply a selection of real-time enhancement devices. Our support team will be there to help to fit these throughout various experiences (wearable / AR).

The NZAP mobile application is activated once registered. This enables GPS location and navigation for guests, and an array of functions to help with their interaction within the whole facility and outside areas.
Mobile App & Website Platform
The continued mobile centric social conditions, and the advent of the first generations of digital natives, suggests that the mobile device is central to a number of responses at APL. For example mobile devices:
-
Can be used as creative interaction tools within ART/PLAY spaces.
-
Record and live share ‘selfie’ high resolution video and communicate via high speed internet.
-
Navigate the visitor around the facility while opening special gifts/play tokens/food & gift rewards.
-
As an augmented translation device and touchless screen trigger.
-
Interact with augmented and mixed reality games and art work animations.
-
Use as an RFID tag trigger for NFT rewards, as a smart card, ticketing access, and drop for media.

Future Proofing New Experiences
We are currently addressing the exponential growth across all aspects of entertainment media with the following key response frameworks:
-
We are working with the best Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality experts to create a ‘years ahead’ approach and purchases are based on new insights with technology hardware and software paths.
-
We require a flexible model to update our creative and technical concepts and to not be locked into hard to re-design physical spaces.
-
We will work with vendors who have a clear track history, and forward development pathway for upgrades and enhancements.
-
We will be part of the evolving discourse to understand trends in location-based entertainment and lead with our own IP projects at a global level.

Construction & Project Management
Our proposed building construction company is Coresteel Buildings https://coresteel.co.nz/
Highly experienced, they are able to provide the level of project management required for a timely and efficient construction roll-out.
They can also provide the complete fit out of the spaces, and work with other lead contractors to oversee the project management working with NZAP’s thought leadership.
Coresteel utilises the DonoBeam system https://coresteel.co.nz/systems/donobeam/
This allows NZAP to build an internal building structure without pillars, that is strong and durable to withstand environmental conditions. DonoBeam is also an environmentally-conscious solution with up to 40% fewer carbon emissions when compared to conventional steel construction methods.
Our building requirements include:
-
Adherence to Health & Safety standards and access, waste recycling & eco-friendly system integration.
-
Extensive use of solar energy panels across the roof top to power NZAP and store energy.
-
Flexible, modular, approach to the internal ART & PLAY spaces - we need to refresh content installations and have ease of access to do so.
First Floor & Co Working Spaces
We see the need for onsite co-working, management meeting and employee spaces. As the facility is open day, and evening, the supporting staff will also have a place to prepare for their work and to take breaks. We envision a floor area covering 21.5m width by 25.5m length can provide amenities for several staff and managers. This would include visiting artists and technical staff from time to time.

Summary
NZAP aims to become a leading star in the growth of highly profitable immersive entertainment centers worldwide. Through creativity, and state of the art technology innovations with CoLAB, NZAP will celebrate New Zealand's unique creative DNA. Envisioning a new kind of exciting concept for Auckland, the NZ countries visitor economy, and globally.
